Consultation on the future of Elizabeth College and Hobart City High School

Have your say at https://www.engagetas.com.au/hcps

As you may know, in 2021 Hobart City High School (HCHS) and Elizabeth College (EC) formed the Hobart City Partner Schools Partnership. This arrangement has enabled both schools to work closely together to give students strong learning pathways for employment, further training or higher education.

In 2022, Year 7 students and Years 8-10 girls attended the Ogilvie Campus of HCHS, with Years 8-10 boys attending the New Town Campus.

From 2023, HCHS became fully co-educational. The New Town Campus focuses on Years 9 and 10, with the Ogilvie Campus focusing on Years 7 and 8, as well as hosting the Hobart Big Picture program for years 9-12.

We are looking at the next steps for our schools so more of our young people can pursue their passions and continue to learn for longer, as they start to shape their future.

3P Advisory, a Tasmanian consultancy which specialises in stakeholder engagement and consultation, has been engaged to undertake consultation on HCHS and EC’s current model and partnership arrangements to identify a future operational model.

This work has been brought forward to bring certainty and stability to everyone ahead of the preferred model being implemented with a 2025 start date in mind.

The sessions listed below are for interested current students and parent/carers to participate in the consultation.

Monday 11 September 3.45 – 4.45pm Elizabeth College Library
Thursday 21 September 4.45 – 5.45pm Elizabeth College Library
Thursday 21 September 6.30 – 7.30pm Online Forum
Thursday 21 September 7.30 – 8.30pm Online Forum

Some of the current possibilities could be:

  • HCHS and EC stay separate, as they currently are, but continue to work in partnership
  • They combine to become one school on three campuses
  • Any other reasonable alternative options identified through the consultation process

However, it’s important to know that these are possible options only and nothing has been decided. This is where you come in. We want your thoughts about how HCHS and EC can best deliver learning outcomes and strong pathways for all students, both now and into the future.

The purpose of these session is to lead and focus discussions around:

  • Identifying and capturing what you see as the opportunities, challenges and
  • Discussing the possible options and any other options which could be
  • Looking at the current partnership with Elizabeth College to deliver Year 11 and 12 pathways – what’s working and where improvements can be made.

In addition to the above sessions, 3P will also host an informal walk-in session on:

  • Thursday 28 September 2.45 – 4.00pm           Elizabeth College Library
