Joshua Beltz plays field hockey for Australia’s national team, the Kookaburras. He made his international debut in 2015 and has since become a regular member of the squad, reaching the milestone of 100 international appearances in 2023. 

One of his career highlights came at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where he helped Australia win a silver medal and scored his first Olympic goal during the tournament. He has also achieved success at other major events, including winning gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and multiple Oceania Cup titles.

Off the field, Josh has played domestically for the Tassie Tigers and works as a graduate engineer.

Meriem Daoui is a humanitarian marathon runner and registered nurse working in paediatrics and oncology, recognised as the 2023 Tasmanian Young Australian of the Year and recipient of the 2021 Australian Peter Norman Humanitarian Award for her community and philanthropic efforts. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to helping others from a young age, raising over $5,000 for displaced Syrians at just 16. Combining her passion for running with her drive to make a difference, in 2021 Meriem ran the Point to Pinnacle every day for a week, raising more than $12,000 for childhood cancer research. She has won the Point to Pinnacle three times, and most recently won the Great Ocean Road Marathon for a second time, setting a new race record. Meriem continues to represent Tasmania at a national level, while serving as an ambassador for the Al-Ihsan Foundation, and pursuing a medical degree at the University of Tasmania.

Nathan Earle is a professional road cyclist who has competed at an international level across a number of leading teams. Over his career, he has ridden for top squads including Team Sky, Drapac Professional Cycling, Israel Cycling Academy and Team Ukyo, showcasing his talent on the global stage. 

Known for his consistency and endurance, Nathan has achieved a number of impressive results, including overall victories at events such as the Tour of Japan and Tour de Kumano, along with multiple stage wins throughout his career. He continues to compete professionally, currently riding for the Kinan Racing Team.

Justice Stephen Estcourt AM was appointed to the Supreme Court of Tasmania in April 2013.

He commenced his legal career with Archer Bushby in Launceston, where he worked from 1974 to 1989, before being appointed as a magistrate. In 1994, he established the Resource Management and Planning Appeals Tribunal, and in 2001 was appointed Deputy President of the Commonwealth Appeals Tribunal.

Joining the Tasmanian Bar in 1995, Justice Estcourt was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1998. He built a distinguished practice across civil and criminal law, appearing in the Supreme Court of Tasmania as well as in the Federal Court and High Court of Australia. His strong commitment to multiculturalism and pro bono work gained national recognition, particularly in human rights and immigration law. In 2012, he was named a Tasmanian finalist for Australian of the Year for his leadership in organising World Party Tasmania, celebrating the state’s multicultural community.

Justice Estcourt has also made significant contributions to the legal profession. He served as President of the Tasmanian Bar Association (2006–2008) and was elected President of the Australian Bar Association in 2007. He was a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law from 2007 to 2015, and in 2017 was sworn in as Administrator of the Government of Tasmania.

In 2018, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his outstanding service to the judiciary, legal education, and the profession.

Allison Farrow is a highly accomplished, classically trained vocalist, actor and presenter with a career spanning almost 30 years across music theatre, opera, jazz and children’s entertainment. A versatile performer, she has appeared at major festivals in Australia and internationally, including the Edinburgh Fringe, Festival of Voices and Mona Foma, and regularly performs both solo and as part of ensembles.

Her extensive stage credits include leading roles in well-known productions such as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables and My Fair Lady. Alongside her theatre work, Allison has created acclaimed cabaret shows, performed with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and contributed to children’s productions and television, showcasing her ability to engage audiences of all ages.

Scott Farrow is one of Tasmania’s most well-known and respected musical theatre performers, with over 20 years of experience on the Hobart stage. He has taken on a wide range of leading roles in major productions including Miss Saigon, Rock of Ages, Les Misérables, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and even portrayed Shane Warne in Shane Warne the Musical.

Scott continues to showcase his talent and versatility as a standout performer in the local theatre scene and has also appeared in tv shows, Rosehaven, Deadloch and Bay of Fires.

Dr Cleo Hansen-Lohrey is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Tasmania, where she coordinates administrative law and civil procedure and serves as the Law Honours Program coordinator. Her research focuses on refugee law, human rights, treaty interpretation, and climate-related displacement. She is actively engaged in international legal scholarship, including as a founding member of the faculty’s Rights, International and Public Law Forum and a contributor to the International Journal of Refugee Law.

Cleo completed her PhD in 2025, developing an original framework for interpreting the expanded refugee definition under the 1969 OAU Convention, with particular relevance to climate and disaster-related displacement. She has also consulted for UNHCR on these issues.

Before academia, Cleo worked in legal, government, and humanitarian sectors, including as a Senior Legal Officer and with the Australian Red Cross, and has extensive experience in refugee advocacy and protection.

Constantine Koukias is an internationally acclaimed music composer and opera director. Born into a Greek-Australian family, he now lives and works in Amsterdam. In 1990, he co-founded IHOS Music Theatre and Opera in Hobart, leading it until 2013. Today, he is the Creative Director of Foundation IHOS Amsterdam.

For over 30 years, Constantine has created large operas, musical shows, and films. His art connects music with acting, visual arts, and digital media. He uses unique staging, sound effects, and singing to share stories about migration, identity, history, and social justice. His music blends Byzantine, Latin, Hebrew, and Eastern traditions, informed by lifelong research into the polyphonic folk singing traditions of Epirus in Greece.

Constantine learned from famous music teachers like Ross Edwards, Keith Humble, Mark Kopytman, and Peter Sculthorpe. His famous musical pieces include ICON, Days and Nights with Christ, Tesla – Lightning in His Hand, The Barbarians, Odyssey, and Medea. His shows have been performed all over the world. They have appeared at the Sydney Opera House, MONA, Carnegie Hall, and big festivals across Europe, Asia, and North America. He is highly respected as a creative leader in modern music and theatre.

Jon Kudelka was one of Australia’s most acclaimed political cartoonists, known for his sharp satire and distinctive style. Beginning his career at the Hobart Mercury in 1993, he went on to draw for The Australian for 20 years and later The Sunday Telegraph, and Saturday Paper producing more than 10,000 cartoons. A two-time Walkley Award winner (2008, 2018), he received multiple Kennedy, Stanley and News awards, and was named the Museum of Australian Democracy’s Political Cartoonist of the Year in 2010 and 2019.

In addition to political work, Jon created artwork celebrating Hobart and Tasmanian wildlife, life drawing, animations, and published three books, including 101 Uses for a John Howard and Hobart By Kudelka. He also featured on ABC’s Insiders program, highlighting the enduring impact of his work in Australian public life. Jon has been described as a “National Treasure”.

Bianca Langham‑Pritchard is a former Australian Hockeyroo who built an outstanding international career after beginning her journey in Tasmania. Debuting for Australia as a teenager, she went on to play 136 international matches, earning a reputation as a skilled and determined half‑back. 

Her career highlights include winning gold medals at both the 1998 World Cup and Commonwealth Games, along with multiple other international podium finishes. Despite the disappointment of missing Olympic selection, Bianca’s resilience and commitment saw her continue to excel at the highest level, leaving a lasting legacy in Australian hockey.

Katie Robertson is an actress known for her versatility across television and stage. She is widely recognised for her roles as Grace in the acclaimed series Rosehaven and as lead character Ainsley in the hit series Five Bedrooms, as well as her standout performance in the international hit Deadloch

With a strong body of work spanning Australian and international productions, Katie was handpicked by Rebecca Gibney to play Jemima Parkmore in Channel Seven’s Wanted and has also appeared in The Kettering Incident and Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries. An award-winning stage performer, she has earned multiple Tasmanian Theatre Awards and continues to build an exciting career both on screen and behind the scenes, including Director’s Assistant on The Survivors.

Rebecca Thomson is a Hobart-based writer and director whose bold, imaginative work spans documentary, comedy and horror. She has created ten short films, including cult favourites Cupcake: A Zombie Lesbian Musical and Slashed, with her work screening at more than 70 international film festivals and earning numerous awards. Her film The Jelly Wrestler was selected for the feature anthology 7 from Etheria, released in the United States. Rebecca is also the creative force behind the multi award-winning documentary series Women of the Island, and continues to develop new projects across film and television. Through her production company, she brings to life both compelling community stories and the fantastical worlds of her distinctive creative vision.

Chris Webster AM has had a distinguished career in law spanning five decades. After graduating from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws in 1974, he practised in civil litigation for 30 years, including 20 years as a founding partner of the firm Wallace, Wilkinson and Webster. He served on numerous state and national tribunals and was President of the Law Society of Tasmania. Appointed as a Magistrate in 2006, Chris has continued to contribute to the legal profession through leadership roles, including President of the Association of Australian Magistrates. Beyond the courtroom, he has dedicated decades to community service, helping establish the Hobart Community Legal Service and supporting organisations such as Rotary and the National Trust. In 2021, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his significant contributions to law and the community.

Matthew Wells is one of Tasmania’s most accomplished hockey players, representing Australia at the highest level across a distinguished international career. A dual Olympian, Wells competed at the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as a member of the Kookaburras, contributing to Australia’s continued success on the world stage. Renowned for his skill and leadership, he also played a key role in multiple international campaigns, including World Cup and Champions Trophy tournaments. Following his playing career, Wells has remained deeply involved in the sport through coaching, sharing his expertise with the next generation of athletes. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to hockey, he was inducted into the Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame.
